Compassion in Action Through Immigration Discussions at First Presbyterian Church

On February 2, our Sunday commenced with a heartfelt worship service and communion, followed by two significant discussions and decisions that underscore our commitment to both our congregation and the broader community.

After the worship service, we convened for our Annual Meeting of the Congregation, where members came together to review the annual budget and elect new members to the Session and Elders. This meeting is a crucial aspect of our church life, allowing us to reflect on the past year's achievements and to look ahead with purpose. We are thankful for the dedication and service of those who have completed their terms and warmly welcome our new leaders who will guide us in the year to come.

Following the Annual Meeting, our congregation gathered once more for an important discussion on immigration and the current policies impacting our community. Given that First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo serves a diverse population of individuals and families, it is vital for us to comprehend how these policies affect our members and neighbors.

During this meeting, we examined our rights and responsibilities as both a congregation and citizens, highlighting the importance of safety and support for everyone who worships and gathers in our church. We believe that understanding these issues transcends legal obligations; it is a reflection of our faith and our commitment to love and serve one another.

As we navigate these complex topics, we are reminded of our mission to be a welcoming and inclusive community. We encourage all members to remain informed and engaged as we work to create a safe and supportive environment for all.

Thank you to everyone who participated in these vital discussions. Your voices and insights are invaluable as we strive to put our faith into action. We look forward to more opportunities for dialogue and community engagement in the weeks ahead.

Stay tuned for further updates and events at First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo, and let us continue to support one another on our journey of faith and service.
