Church Life Mission Project

This past year has given us many opportunities to reflect on the fact that we have more than we need and more blessings than so many others have.

The Church Life committee would like to extended a hand to homeless people here in Buffalo before, during, and now after the pandemic. Several faith based missions for the homeless such as Hearts for the Homeless and the City Mission have an ongoing need for “Help Packets” for their clients. These packs might include personal care items, snacks and warm clothing items. Any items you care to donate will always be appreciated.

Our goal is to have members and friends of First Church purchase items from the list below which will then be assembled into these help packets. Items may be dropped off at church or pick up may be arranged. Contact Jean Hess.

The most requested items are:

• Adult toothbrushes

• Toothpaste (small or travel sizes)

• Shampoo (small)

• Deodorant

• Hand sanitizer or wipes

• Washcloths – darker colors preferred

• Bar soap (individually wrapped)

• Multipacks of razors

• Tissues (small packs)

• Sturdy combs

• Lip balm (any brand)

Choose one or several items to help out with this project. Drop them at church or call for a pickup. Many items come in multipacks which we will divide.

If you are interested in helping with assembly, let me know. Remember Matthew 25:40 – “Whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters, you did for me.”
