Memorial Service for Rev. Dr. Philip S. Gittings to be Held Saturday

A memorial service will be held in the Sanctuary on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 PM for Rev. Dr. Philip S. Gittings. A catered reception in the chapel will follow. Parking will be available in the church's lot, and across the street at Kleinhans Music Hall.

First Church is Buffalo's oldest congregation, founded in 1812, and its people have a heart for mission. The church offers a food pantry to the community, and holds literacy classes for newly arrived refugees. Phil served as Interim Pastor for over five years.

This separate 501 (c) (3) is charged with the preservation of the historic E.B. Green-designed building that is one of Buffalo's architectural gems. Phil was instrumental in helping establish the organization.

Phil was a lover of classical guitar music, and the Falletta Competition was a great joy to him during his time in Buffalo.
