First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo will host an organ recital at the conclusion of Garden Walk Buffalo on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Resident organist, Dr. David Bond, will perform musical selections by Bach, Vierne, and others on the renowned Noehren organ. The thirty minute concert is free and open to the public. A free will offering to benefit historic preservation of the church’s architecturally significant building will be collected.
Dr. David Bond has been Organist and Choirmaster at First Presbyterian Church for nearly 30 years. A graduate of the University of Michigan, and member of the American Guild of Organists, Dr. Bond is a sought-after musician in the Buffalo area, and beyond.
The church’s Noehren Organ was installed in 1970. Designed by Buffalo native, Robert Noehren, the instrument consists of 69 registers, 75 ranks, and 3,600 pipes. It is the sanctuary’s third organ. An innovative instrument at the time, it was the last one Noehren built, and the largest.
