First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo will host an organ recital at the conclusion of the 20th Annual Garden Walk on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Guest organist, David Snyder, will perform musical selections by Bach, Pachelbel, and others on the renowned Noehren organ. The thirty minute concert is free and open to the public. A free will offering to benefit historic preservation of the church’s architecturally significant building will be collected.
The church’s Noehren Organ was installed in 1970. Designed by Buffalo native, Robert Noehren, the instrument consists of 69 registers, 75 ranks, and 3,600 pipes. It is the sanctuary’s third organ. An innovative instrument at the time, it was the last one Noehren built, and the largest.
