First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo will host a “furry” First Fridays Allentown on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Local animal rescue groups, Buffalo Humane and Community Cats Alive, will have cats and kittens available for viewing, petting, and adoption. There will be an educational talk at 7:30 p.m. by a representative of Community Cats Alive regarding humane solutions to feral cat issues in neighborhoods like the west side of Buffalo.

Lloyd Taco Trucks will serve dinner in the church parking lot, and hors d'oeuvres, beverages, beer and wine will be available in the church’s chapel. Tours of the church’s historic sanctuary will be ongoing all evening.

Donations of newspaper, old sheets and towels, wet cat food, laundry detergent, pet carriers, and dish soap are welcome for Buffalo Humane.

First Fridays Allentown is a monthly event that showcases Allentown’s art galleries, restaurants, businesses, and rich cultural attractions (like First Church).

First Presbyterian Church is the oldest congregation in Buffalo. The church’s architecturally significant building on Symphony Circle features Tiffany-designed stained glass windows, two impressive pipe organs, and a 168-foot tall tower which stands as visible landmark in the Allentown section of the city.

Buffalo Humane is a nonprofit animal welfare organization committed to helping animals stay in homes and out of shelters by assisting in obtaining low-cost spay/neuter services, facilitating animal adoption, providing behavioral help with pets, and educating the public on humane animal care and treatment. Buffalo Humane operates on a 100% volunteer basis.

Sister organization Community Cats Alive believes that all creatures, including free roaming community cats, have a right to live long, healthy and happy lives, even if outdoors.  They will demonstrate that TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) is the only humane and cost-effective means of controlling free roaming community cat populations.

Lloyd Taco Trucks serves fun, fresh, flavorful taqueria-style food. Their award-winning tacos and burritos are made with hormone- and antibiotic-free meats. Vegetarian and gluten-free menu options are always available.
