Do you remember the vows you took when you baptized your children? You promised to raise them to know the Lord so that they can live the new life Christ offers us all. I have pondered those vows for my entire ministry. I think of them every time I see your children in church, when they go off to Sunday school, and every time I think about my own children.
For years I have looked for the best ways that our church can help you with the important task of raising spiritually healthy children. Iíve found a wonderful new resource, and I want to share it with you.
Raising children to become spiritually healthy adults who can live in Godís love is as important as giving them the other tools they need to live successfully in the world. I have seen you love and encourage your children, and itís wonderful to behold. I know you give them many opportunities to grow into wonderful adults.
So, I invite you and your children eat lunch with me on Sunday, October 28 in the chapel immediately after the church service so that I can share this new tool with you. If you come to the lunch you will be given a copy of 99 Ways to Raise Spiritually Healthy Children by Kathleen Long Bostrom. The book gives you lots of great ideas to help your child grow into a spiritually healthy adult, able to deal with life when things that go wrong and celebrate the joys of the life we have been given by our loving God.
The book is yours free if you come to the luncheon! Lunch is also free, though you may make an offering if you wish. First, weíll eat together in the chapel. Then the children can go off to age appropriate and supervised activities for about a half an hour while you discuss some of the ideas in the book. I guarantee that youíll leave with some new and exciting ideas. We will also discuss ways that we can support one another on an ongoing basis as we raise these gifts God has given us to nurture.
Please bring your children and join me for this special event. Call the Church Office at 884-7250, ext. 10 to make a reservation as soon as possible. I hope and pray that you will make time to join me. Oh, and the Bills are off that day!
May God Bless You and Your Family!
In Christís Service,
