CELEBRATING OUR PAST, EMBRACING OUR FUTURE!
Founded in 1812 by Revolutionary War veterans and missionaries, Buffalo's oldest congregation survived the burning of Buffalo by the British in 1813. Throughout its rich history, First Church has provided a spiritual home for thousands of its members as well as mission and service for the entire community. The "Mother Church" of at least six others in the area, First Church provided the inspiration for the Visiting Nurses Association by funding local nursing care for the sick and the poor. The congregation continues its long tradition of aiding immigrants and refugees by offering literacy programs for several African communities who have recently made Buffalo their home.
Numerous outreach endeavors by First Church are currently serving and enriching the lives of residents on the West Side. Indeed, we have a proud history to celebrate!
